Gifting of the Body

To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

1 Corinthians 12:7

The Spirited-empowered church is not a stagnate institution. It must grow, not necessarily numerically though we should expect that to happen, spiritually. The successful Christian faith-walk and the church’s ability to function well corporately requires the involvement of all of its members. Paul illustrates how that is so using the human body, vv.12ff. The Lord God designed the human body in such a way that each member contributes the functional capability of human life. If a bodily member is amputated or ceases to function, then the body is handicapped, not fully capable of doing as well as a completely functioning body can. In similar ways body of Christ, if certain talents are not used then the purpose for that gift handicaps the church and growth hindered.

The Bible says each gift of the Spirit is to be used for the common good of the church body. Plan to make a difference this year by using what the Lord has gifted you for the good of our church.
