“But if you will not obey the voice of the  LORD your God or be careful to do all his commandments and

his statutes that I command you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you.” (Deuteronomy  28:15 )

With the advent of computerization has come endless requirements to accept contractual agreements for software or apps usage. Often these agreements are pages long filled with legal jargon and stipulations for produce use and conditions of liability. If you are like me, I’ve come to place where I don’t read all that is written and I just click “I agree.”

The Lord presented Israel with a very lengthy and detailed covenantal document. Before they entered the Promised Land Israel needed to understand the provisions and agree to them. While the Law describes the possible social order they could expect via blessings and curses, the theological significance of the agreement is that Yahweh is not only absolute Lord over the covenant, he can himself make his people contemptible. He can rob them of “authentic” existence.

God the Father has made his Son contemptible (a curse) for us. He robbed him of his glory by placing our sin upon him that ultimately “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  (Php 2:10, 11)

Let us come before his presence on bended knees.
