Trusting God

"For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly." Psalm 84:11

Nothing beneficial will He hold back from the loyal. From this Psalm we receive both comfort and challenge. We are comforted because under the rule of our Lord, he wants to bless. He is pleased to provide the necessities of life. He takes seriously his duty not just in a meager way but with such quality that a day with the Lord exceeds a thousand days living anywhere else, cf.v.10.

We are challenged because special divine favor is given only to those who conduct their affairs in devotion to the King. For loyalty is not just in obedience, it involves trust - blessed is the one who trusts in you, v.12. Sometimes we may think it’s impossible to live completely loyal in every turn in life. We are faced with so many demands and our time and energy limited.

Trust says, “I’m following the Lord; I’ll practice praising him daily and in the congregation of the saint; and I trust him for the outcomes. The Psalmist observed, “blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise! Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.”

“Take God at his word, and trust him for the outcomes.”
